13445608_10206424543749284_4081993984512168306_nFor the ninth year, Tribal Council member Rose Salgado, who originated the Lip Sync event, co-hosted the annual contest with Andrew Vallejos, Sponsorship Coordinator for the Soboba Foundation. Guests lined up as early as 4:30 at AC’s Lounge in the Soboba Casino for this popular and well attended evening. Judges were board members of the Soboba Foundation.

This year’s competitors included EEK Fitness, T.H.E. Center, San Jacinto Unified School District, Hemet Chiefs, Ramona Humane Society, Hemet/San Jacinto PTA, The Ramona Bowl, Diamond Valley Arts Council, MSJC Foundation, Hemet Valley Queens, American Cancer Society and the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce

The Lip Sync is strictly a competition for the non-profit organizations in the Valley and each team was guaranteed a prize of $400 for participating. The final four contestants – Hemet Valley Queens, The Ramona Bowl, American Cancer Society and the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce were awarded $500, $1,000, $1,500 and $2,000 respectively.
On a bright note, it was the first win for the Chamber of Commerce who had not participated for many years. Participants on the Chamber Nation team included: Ben Yepremian/Destination Coffee Bar & Bistro, Claudette Anderson/Bank of America, Roberto Guadamuz/Guadamuz Chiropractic, Stephani Guadamuz, Karena Chum/Altura Credit Union, Lakshman Koka/SJ Medical, Lisa Ruiz & Jennifer Graham/Jazzercise of Hemet, Richard Perry/VIP Autos, Bobbie Christie, Pat McGivney/CPA, Andy Anderson/Chamber CEO, Veronica Vergne/Altura Credit Union, Bryan Vergne/ US Forest Service, Sean McGivney/2nd Lt. Army.

Their spoof of America’s Got Talent and high energy performance of Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation earned them the top spot. The concept was developed by Chamber Board Member Claudette Anderson, working with Ben and Alexander Yepremian on creating the choreography and audio to make the vision come to life. They wanted to create something different and entertaining that would include board and chamber members. The team worked long and hard practicing before the event.

The Chamber team wants to thank Jazzercise Hemet- Anna Martinez for use of their facility to conduct practices and Hemet Fire Department for the use of props.
